This month we are super thrilled to release a short documentary on Star Wars 9! That's right! We had the chance to film the legendary studio Industrial Light & Magic in San Francisco and Vancouver right before the COVID-19 outbreak! Like many we are working fully remote, but that still doesn’t stop the releases from coming. Clarisse iFX 4.0 SP6 just came out of the oven! Don’t forget to upgrade! Finally take a look at our latest tutorial covering exit color and ray depth as well as the awesome junkyard scene our very own Technical Artist, Eric created and shared with the community!
Last month, we had the privilege to interview Michael Di Como, Head of CG and Jeffrey de Guzman, Environment Supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic. The legendary studio kindly opened its doors to our teams so we could film some of their amazing artworks and props of landmark movies such as the Star Wars saga, Terminator 2, Jurassic Park and many more! Discover exclusive materials and breakdowns explaining how and why the teams used Clarisse to create the outstanding visual effects of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Watch the video now!

We have great news for you! NVIDIA just released a patch to its drivers enabling hardware acceleration on RDP for non-Quadro cards. You can now freely use Clarisse with Windows Remote Desktop even if your NVIDIA graphics card isn't a Quadro. To get this patch, follow the instructions here. You'll just have to create an account which is completely free. Please note that RDP hardware acceleration was already working with AMD based graphics cards. We haven’t let the COVID outbreak slow us down, our team will always work hard to deliver you new features and bug fixes. This month we sped up time to first pixels when rendering with motion blur on, improved the performance of UDIM rendering, as well as other speedups to the renderer...
We interviewed Pozong Huang to talk about his much-acclaimed concept art 'Abandoned City' - and where he got the inspiration from to create such a Michael Bay-esque masterpiece! Appetite for destruction? #MadeWithClarisse! Enjoy ;)
In this video, we will see how exit color can help us resolve black areas we sometimes get in renders that have both reflective and transmissive materials. We will also see how textures set to environment projection mode can help us get even better results and optimize render times.
A concept put together by Eric our very own technical artist. Eric used only FREE assets available to all and you can do all of that using the free PLE version of Clarisse iFX. Follow along and try it out for yourself! Download Clarisse PLE now!
The Gnomon Workshop has released 3D Landscapes with Houdini and Clarisse a guide to environment building recorded by DreamWorks Animation’s James Miller. In this tutorial, James takes an in-depth look at designing, lighting and compositing a landscape environment from beginning to end. He starts by building the terrain using Houdini's terrain tools then builds the scene in Clarisse before finishing in Nuke.
