You read it right! Get the brand new Clarisse iFX 4.0 SP2 to enable NVIDIA RTX ray tracing in Clarisse’s 3D viewport! Yes! You will actually be able to work with billions of polygons in real-time! It feels like playing a video game but with super detailed environments that can only be created in Clarisse. With this release, we also bring huge improvements to lights and materials sampling which can speed up your renders up to 4x! We are also releasing many new mini tutorials showing the amazing workflow of Clarisse BUiLDER. Finally, all good things come to an end. You only have a few days left to benefit from our insane Clarisse iFX Welcome Pack offer!
For the past three years, we have collaborated very closely with NVIDIA to leverage from the power of GPUs to speed up Clarisse ray-tracing. We have really focused on maximizing Clarisse’s viewport performance using GPUs and the result is pretty unbelievable. The 3D View performance jumps from interactive feedback to real-time on the typical hundreds of billions polygons scenes made in Clarisse! This new RTX acceleration is clearly a game changer for any artists doing set dressing or any other layout type of work.
GPU acceleration works in all display modes with the exception of Previz and Progressive Rendering provided you have an NVIDIA Maxwell or newer GPU. Right now, some features such as render time displacements and volumes are not supported. In such cases, the view automatically falls back to CPU rendering to display accurately the content of your scenes. Here’s a mini tutorial covering the new GPU acceleration you’ll find in Clarisse iFX 4.0 SP2.
Now, what about final rendering on GPU in Clarisse? Right now some hardware limitations are preventing us to deliver you the uncompromised rendering experience you are used to. But don’t worry, we are already working with NVIDIA teams to make that happen in the future!
“Isotopix has taken an innovative and phased approach for the adoption of RTX ray-tracing technology to deliver the uncompromised rendering experience Clarisse customers have come to expect. Building on our long history of working together to advance the rendering workflow, we’re looking forward to bringing new capabilities to customers,” said John Ison, director, marketing and business development, NVIDIA.
The CPU rendering side of Clarisse hasn’t been left behind. Clarisse iFX 4.0 SP2 introduces massive improvements in lights and materials importance sampling on both specular and transmissive paths. Renders can now have less noise for the same number of samples, but not only that, they also render faster! When you add up these improvements, this type of renders will not only require a fewer number of samples for final quality, but they end up rendering up to 4x faster than in any previous version of Clarisse!
Same sampling settings on 4.0 SP1 and 4.0 SP2
10 bounces all paths, rendered on an AMD RYZEN Threadripper 2990WX
4.0 SP2 at 50% samples (46s) has less noise than 4.0 SP1 at 100% (171s)
Clarisse iFX 4.0 SP2 is available immediately for free to existing customers with active maintenance.
